Raw Food Detox Diet
People often refer to different things when they say raw food detox diet. Some consider
the whole "cleanse" experience as the only detox protocol while others take a more realistic and gentle approach to
detoxification. So exactly where does one really learn how to detox the body?
Whatever your definition, the basic concept of detox is as you might expect. The idea is
to rid the body of toxins that are introduced by the average lifestyle, diet and environment. These toxins
accumulate in the body and are believed by many to be at the root of most illness and disease.
I've never been a proponent of crazy starvation detox cleanse regimens where you eat
nothing and only drink lemonade with maple syrup or the like. Common sense tells me that this could be good for
your health so I have to assume that it probably is not. Not to mention that it the body is going to be truly
detoxified, that implies some degree of repair along with the purging of any toxins. Programs like that described
above don't seem to offer any chance of repair and would most likely instead introduce further trauma if not
outright damage.
I'm no nutritionist, but it would seem to me that repair can only come when we replace the
outgoing bad stuff with a large infusion of good stuff. So for me living foods is the way to go. The raw food detox
diet most often refers to the process prescribed in the book of the same name, written by Natalia Rose. While I’m
not aware of any real raw food diet dangers, the transition process can be somewhat difficult if not done
correctly.
Ms. Rose is a clinical nutritionist out of New York. She has a huge following and I’m told
she works with some very high profile clients. In her book, she lays out a five step plan cellular level
cleansing to produce vibrant health, emotional balance, mental clarity and significant weight loss.
In this her first of 3 books, Rose explains how raw food helps to detoxify the body by
flushing out the toxins, but that making the transition to a raw diet too quickly can have negative effects on the
body. As a solution, she gently steps you through the transition based on your previous diet and current
needs.
I recommend that anyone looking to embark on a raw food diet read this book. I wish I had
before I started out. Rose’s approach allows the beginner to choose how far they want to go. You can choose to move
toward and eventually arrive at an all-raw lifestyle, but you don’t have to. However far you choose to go, you will
arrive at your goal safely and feeling great.
The book includes a questionnaire that readers complete to establish their “transition
number” from 1 to 5. This is established based on your existing diet habits and is the basis around which the most
appropriate personalized menus, recipes, and cleansing methods are recommended. There really couldn’t be an easier
way to make the transition thanks to more than eighty delicious, simple but gourmet raw food diet recipes and
Rose’s signature green lemonade.
